In September, Comporium began upgrading the Basic Plus level of service (chs. 22-61) to 100% Digital. Our Digital upgrade will be phased in by geographic area over the next six months.
Once your area is upgraded, a TV must have either a Digital converter box from Comporium, or have a Digital QAM tuner built in to view the Basic Plus channels. Without either of these, the TV will only receive Basic Cable (chs. 2-21). This change is necessary to re-gain bandwidth, allowing us to add highly requested channels on Basic Plus, Digital Basic, a lot more HD and Premium channels.
As of 9/16/08, the rental fee on additional standard digital converter boxes decrease from $6.95/mo to $4.95/mo. Comporium will still provide the first Digital converter box at no charge to Basic Plus customers.
Below are the new channels that will be added:
BASIC PLUS:
E! Entertainment, Style, Shop NBC, EWTN (Catholic Network), Along with several other channels moving from Digital Basic to Basic Plus.
DIGITAL BASIC:
Fox Business News, Tennis Channel, RFDTV, Oxygen, ION Life, NASA Channel, Quobo (Kids), Sprout (PBS Kids), Gospel Music TV, Chiller (Horror), Sportsman Channel (Outdoor Sports)
HDTV:
WGN HD, Weather Channel HD, Golf/Versus HD, USA HD, Food HD, HGTV HD, A&E HD, MHD (Music), Sci-Fi HD, CNBC HD, Fox Business News HD, Showtime HD (requires Showtime package)
PREMIUM:
Cinemax: 5 Star Max, W Max, Outer Max, @Max
Starz/Encore: Starz Comedy, Encore Action, Encore Westerns, Encore Love, Encore Drama, Encore Mystery
